  • Our Knowledge and Experience: We have been fulfilling cyclists needs for decades. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff has been helping people just like you have great cycling experiences, come in and let us get you riding.
  • Attitude: Can you still call your job "work" if you love what you doing? Everyone on staff is a rider, we all love cycling for the same reasons that you do! Your needs and requests come first, not only do we want to help you ride more often, but we want you to have more fun on your bicycle. Great things happen when the right people with the right goals come together.
  • Empathy: There is no such thing as a dumb question. You should feel comfortable asking anything about cycling (and you're probably not the first to ask it!). We love sharing the knowledge that we've accumulated over the years. We are here to help you get the most out of your riding.
  • Selection: We have everything to make your cycling experience all you dreamed it would be. Let us help you select the perfect gear that will get you riding.

Meet Our Guides

Bill is co-owner of Pedal Power. He picked up biking in 1989 while in college, starting in road biking and triathlons. 1990 is when bikes took center stage for him. He moved to and began working full-time in a small shop in eastern Connecticut. It was all bikes; road, dirt, old and new. After 5 years of learning the business, he and his business partner, Gary, ventured off on their own and purchased Pedal Power. They started at 500 Main St. in an 1800 sq ft space, and in 2000 moved to their present location at 359 Main. Over the years, Bill's been an avid mountain biker and road biker. He's even dabbled on the track. Now, as the years march on, he continues to ride while trying not to get dropped!

Gary is co-owner of Pedal Power. He is a life-long cyclist, & typically logs between 3 & 5 thousand miles a season. He rides both road & mountain bikes, and has completed the Mt Washington Hill Climb several years running. Gary also leads several Pedal Power road & mountain group rides per week, throughout the year. There are few places Gary would rather be than on his bike, jumping rocks in the woods, or sprinting for the town-line, or training to chase his PR up Mt. Washington.

Todd H.

Todd is currently the Store Manager and Lead Technician at Pedal Power in Essex. He has been working with Pedal Power for over 15 years and has been loving making peoples rides more enjoyable! When he's not riding his bike or working at the shop, he enjoys Premier League soccer, Buffalo sports, video games, craft beer and hanging with friends and family.

Alex manages our Vernon location. He also leads our mellow Monday road ride and a variety of other group rides. When he's not out on his bike riding on the rail trail, he can be found spending time with his wife and son, hanging out with friends and family. Outside of cycling he enjoys cooking, hiking, camping and kayaking. He also enjoys a good night with the family watching movies and making popcorn in his sweet popcorn machine.

Brett joined the team in 2017 as the company's General Manager. He divides his time between all of our locations helping us keep an eye on the big picture. He has been an avid outdoors man all his life. His passion for cycling was passed on to him from his father at a young age. Now, he is passing that same passion on to his children. "Whether I am hitting the local single track on my mountain bike, navigating through a nor'easter on my fat bike, or cruising the rails to trails with my family, I am at home on a bicycle!"

Jeff joined the sales team in February 2017. Since then, he has moved to the service department in Middletown. He enjoys mountain biking as well as road riding. He can often be found roaming the trails of Hurd State Park and Rockland Preserve in Madison. When he is not riding he enjoys snowboarding, cooking and spending time with his family.

Todd S

Paul joined the Middletown sales team back in 2003 and has been riding bicycles for 30+ years. Road riding is his passion but lately he has been really enjoying his new fat bike. Outside of work Paul loves to cook, woodwork and spend time with his grand kids. His favorite ride is anywhere with beer at the end and hills in between!!

Michael joined the Middletown sales team in February of 2018. He works part time with us as he is a substitute teacher for the Middletown public school system. Michael used to be an avid runner and marathoner and has since transitioned into more of a bike rider to keep up with his desire to maintain his fitness.

Gregg retired from corporate America and joined our sales team in Essex in January 2017. He began riding seriously 35 years ago and he loves riding mountain bikes and hiking with his dog Jackson. He also tries to keep up with his wife, Maryanne, on road rides but she is too strong of a rider! Gregg and his riding buddies have traveled to multiple destinations for mountain biking including Sedona AZ, Moab and Park City UT, Vail and Fruita CO, Bend OR, Pisgah NC and Boulder City NV.

Montana has been the service manager at the Willimantic location since joining Pedal Power in 2020.  A fabricator, mechanic and tinkerer, he has worked in the bicycle industry for over 25 years. As a lifelong cyclist, racer and bicycle commuter, Montana lived car-free before relocating to rural eastern CT, with the goal of operating a small farm.  A road, mtb and cyclocross racer, and former messenger in cities on the East and West coasts, he is the current record holder for a fixed-gear summit of Mt Washington. His rides now are mostly on a motorcycle, to and from work, although he does still enjoy crashing a road bike in the woods, or ruining a perfectly good road ride by showing up on a single speed.

Tammy joined our Vernon team in October of 2020. When not working Tammy can be found shredding the local mountain biking trails, road riding throughout northern Connecticut , or bombing on the downhill trails. Outside of cycling Tammy enjoys skiing and a good competitive game of Tennis or Volleyball.  Just don’t mention her backhand.

Steven joined our service team in 2021 at our Vernon location. He has been passionate about bikes for over 25 years spending many of those years working on them professionally. A horrific accident on his bike at 20 made him take a different direction as he could not ride.

Through the years he has struggled with injuries but his passion remains unfettered. His riding focus now has shifted towards concrete skateparks and riding transition. He is in his element blasting tables over hips and roasting bowl corners at full speed. And now that his son Wyatt is old enough to ride he is passing his knowledge and passion onto him. Outside of bikes and cars he also builds Lego’s and collects Transformers, enjoys stand-up comedy and pepperidge farm cookies. At the end of the day it’s all about having fun on two wheels for Steve. Sharing the love of riding and going full speed with wind in his beard.

Skyler started with Pedal Power in January 2020 at our Willimantic location. When not in the service department, he is out riding, running or studying in the library at UConn where he is getting his bachelor's in Political Science. Skyler has completed a bike tour from CT to SC and an Ironman 70.3. Skyler is a ride leader for the group rides out of our shop in Willimantic.

Cindi joined the Pedal Power Team in 2018. You’ll see her driving the Pedal Power van delivering your favorite bikes and gear to our locations. When not working, she road rides, a love she started in 1999 while participating in the Boston to New York Aids ride with her fellow State Police friends. She became an avid cyclist after her retirement in 2009. Cindi recently purchased a gravel bike and has been enjoying some off road riding. She loves to walk her dogs and hike in the woods with the family In her spare time teaches SPIN classes and enjoys a spirited workout out in the gym.

Owen joined the Vernon sales team in June of 2021 and has been loving it since. He’s been riding a bike since he was three and has never stopped. When you can’t find him behind the sales counter he’s either out riding his bike, building trails or enjoying his car with friends. Owen is an avid downhill and enduro racer who loves to take a chairlift up and hit the biggest jumps and gnarliest trails he can find on the way down.
